All Kinds of Inspired

For those of you who have been longtime readers, you know I’ve been making changes over at WayfaringLancaster.com. What started as a hobby—something meaningful just to me—has grown into so much more.

I’ve found real joy in discovering and sharing the layers of Lancaster County. I didn’t grow up here, and to be honest, when I first moved I didn’t like it at all. But over time, I’ve come to not only like it, but love it. Lancaster is as diverse and colorful as an Amish quilt—stitched together with stories, charm, and community.

I’d love for you to take a look at the updates and let me know what you think:

Fall has me all kinds of inspired here in Lancaster. The fields are alive with tractors and horses, barns hang tobacco to dry, and roadside stands overflow with pumpkins. That unique, rich beauty is ours—and I never want to take it for granted.

One crisp morning this week, I was out collecting acorns with my daughter. We piled up two full heaps—because squirrels deserve a break too, right? Moments like that remind me why I call this place home.

If fall awakens something in you—whether it’s for quiet drives through golden landscapes, pumpkin picking, or sipping cider in the square—I wrote more about it.

Let me know which fall moments you’re chasing this year—acorn hunts, pumpkin patches, scenic drives—I’d love to hear them (and recommend a few favorites).

🎾 Why Pickleball Is Everywhere in Lancaster

If you’ve noticed new courts popping up all over Lancaster County, you’re not imagining it—pickleball has exploded in popularity. It’s one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and Lancaster has fully joined the movement with leagues, tournaments, and plenty of casual games.

The best part? You don’t need to be an expert to join in. Local rec centers and parks make it easy to pick up a paddle and start playing, no prior experience required.

Hi friends,

A recent Yahoo Finance article told the story of a Michigan woman who won’t move in with her husband—because she doesn’t want to give up her 2.8% mortgage rate.

Financial expert Dave Ramsey called it a “no-brainer” to choose the relationship over clinging to a rate. And honestly, it made me stop and think: here in Lancaster County, a lot of us refinanced during the 2020–2021 dip. Those low rates have been a blessing—but they were meant to serve us for a season, not to keep us stuck.

In this week’s blog, I share a bigger perspective: why being grateful for what our low rates already gave us is more freeing than clinging to them—and how family, dreams, and joy are ultimately the better investments.

See you out on the backroads,
Sandra
