Wayfaring Lancaster: —you may be someone’s "someone else."

Find the Rest Notes of Life

Welcome to Wayfaring Wednesday! My career as a real estate agent takes me all around Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and its surrounding areas. Though I wasn’t born and raised here, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the unique blend of urban and rural charm this region offers over the last 20 plus years that I have called this region home. Wayfaring Wednesday is a Newsletter for www.wayfaringLancaster.com my Buy Local- Buy Small initiative.

I studied music and learned to appreciate rest notes. Without them, the music would just be noise! The same can be said for life—pausing amidst the busyness gives everything more meaning.

I make time to turn off the music and enjoy the quiet, listen to the birds, stretch, reflect at the end of the day, kiss my family goodnight, and soak in the beauty of a sunset. These small pauses give my mind a chance to reset and help me savor life more fully.

When I take time to pause, I find I value my conversations more, enjoy the music I hear, approach life with more care, and connect with others on a deeper level.

This season, say yes to those social gatherings with friends you enjoy. It’s a chance to step away from the usual grind, share moments of joy, and recharge your spirit. Take a moment today to smell your coffee before sipping it, look out the window, and reflect on the abundance of meaningful connections in your life.

Last weekend, my husband ran into car trouble while he was out and about with our daughter, picking up Christmas decorations. It was freezing outside, and when he asked someone for help, the person said no—they were too busy. It stung a little, but in that moment, my husband had a realization: there were times he had been too busy to help someone, too.

Thankfully, someone else came along and offered a hand. That small act of kindness made all the difference on such a cold, challenging day, and my husband was deeply grateful for the help.

This experience reminded us of something important: when we help someone, we might be the only one who can. Don’t assume someone else will step in, especially in moments of need. Saying yes, even when it’s inconvenient, is a way of showing we care. You never know how much of an impact your kindness can have—you may be someone’s "someone else."

“When you buy from a small business you’re not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy his team jersey, a mom put food on the table, a dad pay a mortgage or a student pay for college.”

I’m planning to start a series on staging a home for sale, and I've already shared some tips on decluttering. For now, I want to debunk a common myth: homes don’t always look like those stunning listings. People live in these spaces, and a bit of hard work is necessary to prepare them for that perfect photo shoot!
